What happens after I join the beta?

The download isn't public during the beta. Every tester gets their own link by email.

  1. Confirm your emailWe send a link from [email protected] straight away. Click it and you're on the list.
  2. We pick the closed beta testers25 people, chosen for a mix of packages, computers and businesses, including five bookkeepers. We'll email you either way.
  3. You get your download linkWith the beta agreement, a getting-started guide and how to send feedback.
  4. Explore, then go realOpen the sample business first, then convert or set up your own books and run them alongside your current system.
  5. Everyone else joins the open betaFrom 25 January 2027, in time to prepare October to December BAS figures.

Kontuly beta questions

Is the Kontuly beta free?

Yes. There's nothing to pay during the beta, and testers earn licences by using Kontuly: a free licence for life for running real books for four weeks.

Why do I need to confirm my email?

So nobody can sign you up without your say-so, and so we know beta emails will reach you. Click the link in the email from [email protected]. If it hasn't arrived after a few minutes, check your spam or promotions folder.

Why isn't there a download button?

During the beta, each tester is emailed their own download link so we can support everyone properly. The public download opens with version 1.0.

Is it safe to use my real books?

Kontuly is pre-release software, so keep your current system running during the beta and back up your books off the computer. Kontuly takes daily backups and can copy them to a USB drive or NAS for you.

How much time does testing take?

About as long as your normal bookkeeping, plus a short survey after the first week. Most of the value comes from doing your usual work in Kontuly and telling us what got in the way.

Can I join from outside Australia?

The beta is for Australian businesses. Choose your country when you sign up and we'll tell you when Kontuly is ready for it.

Will you share my email address?

No. We'll only email you about the beta and Kontuly's launch, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
